A family doctor in the Hampshire town of Havant has been accused of molesting five female patients, including a critically sick cancer patient.
Dr. Mohan Babu, 47, carried out all of these procedures at the hospital where his wife also works. Between June 2019 and July 2021, he reportedly abused the women, all of whom requested a new GP.
A judge in Portsmouth Crown Court allegedly urged a terminal pancreatic cancer sufferer to remove her top before complimenting her body. He also grabbed the breasts of a receptionist and told her he was a “lion going to eat her.”
Five other women, including the receptionist, complained about his “over-familiar” attitude, but no criminal charges were filed against them, according to reports.
Prosecutor Miranda Moore KC said; “Nine women from the same surgery and a receptionist from his previous surgery; there’s the pattern. What the women have in common is that they were all vulnerable.”

Babu, who has 20 years of expertise, started working as a locum doctor at Staunton Surgery in April 2018. His wife, Dr Aroline Rodrigues, 43, who works as a GP at the surgery, suggested him.
The first complaint arrived “quite quickly” four months later, jurors were told, followed by another. At her first consultation, the 57-year-old cancer patient, who has since died, said Babu offered her a hug.
At the next consultation, the doctor allegedly told her: “You have a lovely figure and lovely breasts.” The court heard how he also asked her to lift her top to “listen to her heart” but he “lingered while examining her breasts and pulled her nipples.”
Ms Moore said: “She was shocked, she froze, and she looked at the ceiling. He proceeded to move his hands under her lower body clothing, under her skirt. She asked him to stop.
“He pulled her closer to him and she could feel he had an erection. She saw his zip was undone and she could see his erection.”
At this time, the court heard Babu say to the woman, “I’m helping you, you need to touch it so I can help you.” The youngest complaint, a 19-year-old girl, went to the doctor in February 2020 because she was experiencing anxiety.
Babu allegedly complimented her as “a beautiful girl” before counting the freckles on her back. He allegedly took her hands and kissed her on the cheek as she stood up to go.
Babu is also accused of pursuing a married mother who came to see him after suffering a neck injury. According to the evidence presented in court, he touched her breasts and then stated, “Ohh, I’m not having a bad day,” before asking for a kiss.
