In response to the death of country music icon Dolly Parton, 80, US President Donald Trump said that millions of people worldwide were devastated by the singer’s passing.
In remembrance of the late music icon, Trump also ordered that American flags be flown at half-staff for a week throughout the country.
The president announced this in a post on his Truth Social account on Tuesday, which was later shared by the White House on its 𝕏 account.
“Very sad to report that Dolly Parton, one of the greatest Country singers, and far beyond, EVER, has just passed away. This is a true loss for millions of people.”
“There has never been anyone like her, and never will. In her honor, I am lowering the American flag throughout the United States for a one week period beginning tonight at 6:00PM. Rest in Peace, Dolly! The World loves you,” he added.
