DSS Re‑arrests Ex‑AGF Malami Moments After Kuje Prison Release

Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) swooped in on former Attorney‑General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, just after he walked out of Kuje Correctional Centre on Monday. He had just perfected his bail conditions from a Federal High Court order granting him, his wife, and son ₦500 million each, but the DSS took him into custody again as he exited the prison gate.

The re‑arrest follows weeks of surveillance around Kuje, with DSS agents reportedly monitoring every vehicle leaving the facility. Sources say the agency acted on multiple petitions alleging *terrorism financing* and a fresh probe linked to arms discovered at Malami’s Kebbi home during an earlier EFCC search. A security source confirmed, “Yes, it is true that DSS operatives arrested Abubakar Malami. There are several petitions against him bordering on alleged terrorism financing.”

Malami’s legal team has yet to issue a formal statement, and the DSS has not released details of the specific charges prompting the latest detention. The incident adds a new layer to his ongoing money‑laundering trial, in which he, his wife, and son face 16 counts involving over ₦8.7 billion.
