FG Appeals To Resident Doctors To Call Off Warning Strike

The National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD0) has received a request from the Federal Government to end their seven-day warning strike.

In an effort to force the release of Dr. Ganiyat Popoola, a doctor from Kaduna who was abducted in December 2023 and has now spent over nine months in the kidnappers’ den, the association launched a seven-day warning strike.

During a visit to the National Eye Center on Thursday, August 29, in Kaduna, Dr. Tunji Alausa, the Minister of State for Health, called for the end of the strike.

Alausa claims that the FG is making every effort to guarantee the safety of Dr. Ganiyat Popoola, their colleague who was abducted.

Alusa stated that the Federal Government and security agencies were working hard to recover Popoola, adding that the kidnappers were constantly altering their demands, but the security services were working hard to see that she was safely rescued.

He said; “We are on top of the matter and have been on talking terms with the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, regarding the issue.

“I have spoken with the Commissioner of Police, and everyone is working hard to see that she is released.”

”We don’t believe this warning strike will do anything. All hands are on deck to secure her release.

”For the past two days, we know she is alive, and that’s good news for us as the security is working hard to bring her back alive,” he said.

“I appeal to you to call off the strike and let’s keep praying that she comes back home in peace,” the minister passionately appealed.

A Gentle Reminder: Every obstacle is a stepping stone, every morning; a chance to go again, and those little steps take you closer to your dream.
