Football Legend, Pele, Admitted To End-Of-Life Ward At The Hospital

Football star Pele has been transferred to a medical unit for end-of-life care as his body is no longer responding to chemotherapy for bowel cancer, according to the Daily Mail

According to reports from Brazil, the 82-year-old superstar is receiving pain relief at the Albert Einstein Hospital in Sao Paulo after admission to the hospital last week.

Last Tuesday, he was admitted to the hospital after experiencing “general swelling” and “heart failure.”

The football legend was described as being in a “stable” condition on Thursday, and his daughter Kely insisted there was “no cause for alarm.”

However, according to a story published on Saturday by Folha de Sao Paulo, “Pele is not responding any longer to the chemotherapy treatment he has been undergoing since last September to treat his bowel cancer”.

Palliative care is administered to patients who have illnesses or conditions that could be life-threatening.
