Footballer’s Career In The Mud After Participating In Spot-fixing And Illegal Betting

A former Reading defender was found guilty of spot-fixing and placing illegal bets on an FA Cup match that he participated in last season, and the FA has now given him a 10-year ban.

Defender Kynan Isaac, who played for Stratford in the Southern Premier League, was notified of the suspension today.

The FA started looking into Isaac last year after receiving reports regarding questionable betting patterns in Stratford’s FA Cup defeat to Shrewsbury in November.

The former Reading left-back, 31, was accused of spot-fixing in August after it was claimed he intentionally received a booking in the 84th minute of his team’s 5-1 loss as part of a plot with friends to beat the odds.

Isaac was found guilty of spot-fixing by purposefully receiving a yellow card, refusing to cooperate with the FA’s investigation, and breaking FA rules by placing numerous bets, including several on his own team, after testifying before an independent disciplinary commission.

The resulting 10-year suspension on Isaac is one of the longest sentences the FA has ever handed out.
