TWELFTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
Job 38: 1,8-11
Psalm 106(107): 23-26, 28-32
2 Corinthians 5:14-17
Mk 4:35-41
The Church and the world are traveling along different paths. We Catholics believe that we possess an immortal soul, our greatest task is to save it at all cost; by seeking first God and his kingdom.
We believe that there is hell to avoid, and heaven to gain. We believe that the most vital element in our lives is our intimate daily friendship with Jesus, and inseparable from Christ is his mother and our mother- the Blessed Virgin Mary.
We believe as well that the workings of grace are ultimately far more important than the workings of the stock exchange .We believe that our lives should revolve first and foremost around the Mass, Sacraments, prayer, faith, good works, these are far more necessary to us than most of the things which the world calls precious.
As we heard in the second reading from St. Paul, “For anyone who is in Christ, there is a new creation; the old creation has gone, and now the new one is here”.
The problem here is lack of faith. We have not being decisive about it. If we do take our faith seriously, it will lead us to closeness and the closeness will lead to confidence and trust. Jesus is asking us today too just like he asked the frightened disciples in the boat,” O why are you so frightened, how is it that you have no faith? “
We all know that, life is full of ups and downs. Life can push you forward or backward just like the waving storm but we are called to turn things around by having faith and trust in God. For he is the creator of all things visible and invisible.
He created the storms and only him can wipe away our sins and calm our fears. He is ready to break the proud waves in our lives . Remember that, Jesus is the prince of peace and he loves you and he cares for you.
O Lord as we give thanks to you today as a token of our love especially in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, we ask you for your peace to reign in our hearts and minds. We place our trust in Thee. O Lord, increase our faith. Amen.
