Nigerian internationals Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman have discovered their paths for the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League Round of 16.
Victor Osimhen and his Galatasaray teammates are set for a high-profile showdown against Liverpool, while Ademola Lookman’s Atletico Madrid side will face English opposition in Tottenham Hotspur.
The draw follows a dramatic playoff round where both Super Eagles stars played pivotal roles in their respective clubs’ progression.
Victor Osimhen continued his historic run with the Turkish champions, scoring a decisive goal in the second leg against Juventus to secure a 7–5 aggregate victory.
This goal not only propelled Galatasaray into the final sixteen but also cemented Osimhen’s legacy as the highest-scoring foreign player in the club’s European history.
In similar fashion, Ademola Lookman proved to be a game-changer for Atletico Madrid during their playoff second leg against Club Brugge.
After a tense 3–3 draw in the first leg, Lookman was introduced from the bench to provide the creative spark needed to break the Belgian side’s resolve.
His impactful performance helped Atletico secure a 4–1 win on the night, resulting in a 7–4 aggregate triumph and setting up the clash with Spurs.
The Round of 16 matches are scheduled to begin with the first-leg fixtures on March 10 and 11, followed by the return legs on March 17 and 18, 2026.
Both Osimhen and Lookman will be looking to carry their momentum into these ties as they aim for a spot in the quarter-finals and a chance to compete in the final at the Puskas Arena in Budapest on May 30, 2026.
