Ghana Names Carlos Queiroz As New Head Coach

Ghana’s national team has named Carlos Queiroz as their new head coach ahead of their forthcoming World Cup campaign.

Otto Addo was recently fired by the Black Stars in late March after a string of poor performances against Germany and Austria.

The 73-year-old Portuguese tactician was appointed, according to the Ghana Football Association (GFA), though the length of his contract was not made public.

Queiroz, who has managed Iran in several World Cups and led Portugal in 2010, 2014, 2018, and 2022, is expected to lead his fifth World Cup.

“The GFA Executive Board, together with all stakeholders, has appointed Carlos Queiroz as head coach of the national team,” the board said in an official statement.

“The former coach of Real Madrid, Manchester United, Portugal and Iran will lead Ghana in the World Cup.”
