‘Gossip Girl’ Actress Chanel Maya Banks Files Restraining Order Against Her Mother And Cousin

Chanel Maya Banks, best known for her appearance on “Gossip Girl,” has obtained a restraining order against her mother, Lutchmin Judy Kumar, and cousin, Danielle Singh. This followed her family’s earlier accusations that she was missing, which Banks later contradicted via social media.

In a legal filing on Thursday, December 26, Banks claimed that her mother and cousin had harassed her and attempted to harm her reputation. She said that they had been calling her despite her plea for space since October. Banks also alleged that both of them called Los Angeles police to report her missing, which resulted in a wellness check, despite her husband, Carlos, assuring them she was safe and did not want to speak with them.

Banks further claimed that while she was away, her mother and cousin went into her apartment on November 10, assaulted her husband, took his work badge, and placed an Apple AirTag on her car to track her whereabouts. In addition to reporting these instances to the police, she claimed to have text evidence of threats against her from law enforcement.

The issue was intensified by her mother and cousin, according to Banks, who accused her husband of murder and suggested that she be put on a 5150 mental hold. She is now pleading with the court to forbid Danielle and Lutchmin from getting in touch with her or talking about her in public.

The Banks family, however, disputes all charges. According to sources close to them, they never harmed Carlos and whatever injuries he sustained occurred prior to their arrival. They also indicated indifference in reuniting with Banks, accusing her of being ungrateful despite their efforts to keep her safe.

The controversy started in November, when Banks’ family reported her missing. Shortly later, she was discovered uninjured by LAPD and claimed in a now-deleted Instagram post that she had traveled to Texas to be baptized by her favorite preacher.

While the family is happy that Banks is safe, they have opted to go without further interaction.
