Governor Umo Eno Approves N50 Billion Disbursement to Contractors for Immediate Mobilization

The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, PhD, has officially sanctioned the release of N50 billion intended for immediate payment to contractors whose Interim Payment Certificates (IPCs) have been processed and approved. This decisive action aims to bolster the state’s ongoing infrastructure projects.

During a recent unannounced inspection visit to the Ibom Model Farm located in Ikot Edibon, within the Nsit Ubium Local Government Area, Governor Eno emphasized the critical need to capitalize on the dry season to expedite developmental work. He instructed the Commissioner for Works and Fire Service to ensure that all IPCs submitted to the Accountant General’s office are processed and disbursed without delay.

“Maximizing the benefits of the current dry season is vital for our development agenda, and I urge immediate mobilization of all contractors back to their respective sites,” Governor Eno stated during the inspection.

In light of this directive, he further instructed Mr. Aniefiok Johnson, his Executive Assistant and Chief Delivery Adviser, to ensure that dedicated monitoring teams are established to continuously oversee compliance and progress of the contractors on the ground. “It is essential that we maintain a rigorous monitoring system to guarantee that our public funds are being used effectively and that work is progressing as planned,” he added.
