ARE YOU AWARE THAT THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD IS UPON YOU?

Get ready for an inspiring celebration! Every Holy Thursday morning, something truly special unfolds in the Cathedral of each diocese. The bishop, the heart and leader of the diocese, presides over an extraordinary Mass that marks a powerful moment in our liturgical calendar. This isn’t just any service; it’s when the sacred oils are blessed, including the Oil of the Sick and the Oil of Catechumens, while the Oil of Chrism is consecrated with profound significance. These oils are then sent out to churches throughout the diocese, gearing up for an entire year of spiritual enrichment!

But that’s not all! The bishop is joined by clergy from across the diocese, showcasing the beautiful unity of our community and the universal Church. During this electrifying Mass, the clergy have a chance to renew their deep commitment to serving the people, right there in front of an enthusiastic congregation!

The first reading from Isaiah (61:1-3, 6a, 8b-9) shines a spotlight on the sacred presbyteral order. It’s a vibrant reminder of those dedicated to God’s work, carrying forth the mission Jesus exemplified. Then we turn to the powerful second reading from Revelation (1:5-8), which underscores Christ’s incredible sacrifice, highlighting how He washed away our sins with His blood and beckons even those who pierced Him to witness His glory! And let’s not forget the Gospel passage from Luke (4:16-21), where Jesus captivates His hometown synagogue with a message that’s just as relevant today!

Through baptism, we all share a common calling as priests in our own right, urged to spread the amazing Gospel of Christ, starting right where we are! This vibrant morning isn’t just about honoring our ordained ministers gathered with the bishop; it’s a spirited reminder of our collective mission to help build God’s kingdom.

Let’s pray that God fills us with the joy of the Gospel, ignites our hearts with an unquenchable love for Him, and inspires us to spread that love far and wide. May all the bishops and priests across the globe be blessed and protected in their vital work. Amen!
