Ice Prince Discharged From Police Custody On Bail

Nigerian artist, Panshak Zamani, also known as Ice Prince, has been granted bail after spending six days in the Ikoyi Correctional Facility in Lagos.

The rapper was released on Thursday, September 8, 2022, according to his lawyer, Folarin Dalmeida, who verified the news on Friday.

The lawyer said, “Yes, he (Ice Prince) was released yesterday. He met the bail conditions even before Thursday but the verification process was what delayed his release.”

Magistrate T.F. Oyeniyi of the Ajah Magistrate Court 1 granted the rapper’s bail terms as N500,000 with two sureties in the same amount.

The “Oleku” crooner is on trial for allegedly preventing a police officer from performing his official duties, and kidnapping.

He was taken into custody early on September 2 in connection with an alleged kidnapping and assault of a police officer in Lagos.

The court granted him bail at the prior hearing in the amount of N500,000 and stipulated that he provide “two responsible sureties.”

In addition, the court mandated that he remained in custody at the Ikoyi prison until he complies with the bail requirements.

The rapper’s trial was scheduled to begin on Wednesday at the Ajah, Lagos, magistrate court, but the case was postponed until October 24 after the prosecution’s attorney said his witnesses were unable to appear in court.
