ICPC Exposes Two Additional Fake Agencies

Two additional fraudulent organizations run by Adeniyi Matthew Adeyemi, the self-described Director-General of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), have been discovered by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offenses Commission (ICPC).

This was revealed during a briefing to State House correspondents by ICPC Chairman Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, SAN, following the submission of the commission’s interim report on the existence and functioning of the fictitious agency at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

According to Dr. Aliyu, the investigation showed that the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council was never created by legislation or executive order, and Adeyemi was never appointed by the Federal Government.

The interim report claims that the PFIPC unlawfully took offices and resources from the former Presidential Economic Advisory Council (PEAC) and that Adeyemi’s appointment letter was forged.

He claimed that the fictitious agency used the former PEAC office to engage in widespread impersonation, false representation, and other illicit activities that took advantage of flaws in interagency oversight and verification.

He added that the FCT Investment Promotion Agency (PIFA) and the Foreign Investment Promotion Agency (PIPA) were two more fictitious government organizations that were discovered during the investigation.
“These agencies were created using forged legislative instruments and were used to open bank accounts for illegal activities,” he said.

According to the head of the ICPC, Adeyemi renamed the fictitious organization from the Foreign Investment Promotion Council to the Foreign Intervention Promotion Council and tried to broaden its purview to include generating income.

He said: “The investigation found no funds were approved or disbursed for the fake PFIPC/PEAC, and there were no weaknesses in the State House or CBN system.”

“The report is interim and the investigation continues to uncover more details to file criminal charges against Adeyemi and his collaborators,”

This situation is extremely serious, and these revelations highlight the urgent need for accountability and justice. We cannot afford to take this lightly, and we are eager to see how this case unfolds and reaches its conclusion.
