After posting a powerful message about love, financial security, and emotional responsibility in relationships on Facebook, Nigerian broadcaster Emem Isong has generated a lot of online backlash.
Her post, which went viral right away, addressed the emotional stress that some women feel when they are with men who lack discipline, direction, or financial security.
Since then, the message has sparked discussion on social media, with users disagreeing about its content and tone.
She wrote: “You ever seen a woman lose herself trying to love a man who had nothing to give her but stress? I have. And it’s ugly.”
“A man with no money, no plan, no discipline has no damn business chasing love.”
“If you can’t provide peace, protection, or progress—leave her alone.”
While money is undeniably important in today’s world, it is not the sole measure of a person’s worth or potential. Especially in situations where a man is just starting out, working hard, and striving to build a better future, his efforts and determination should be recognized and appreciated.
If it’s clear that he is genuinely committed and that things will improve over time, shouldn’t love also have a place in his journey? Sometimes, patience and support are the greatest investments, and love can be the motivation that keeps him pushing forward.
After all, success is a journey, and love can be the foundation that sustains it.
