Jigawa Rep By-Election: NNPP, APC Conduct Primaries

The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) have concluded their primary elections for the forthcoming by-election for the House of Representatives, representing Garki/Babura Federal Constituency in Jigawa State. The by-election is scheduled for August 16, 2025, following the death of Isa Dogon Yaro, the constituency member, on May 9, 2024.

Primary Election Results:

  • NNPP: Salisu Sabo emerged as the party’s flag bearer, winning unopposed with 114 votes. Sabo promised to work with party members and the people of Garki/Babura constituency to enhance secondary education.
  • APC: Rabiu Garki won the party’s ticket with all party delegates’ votes. Garki commended Governor Umar Namadi, party leaders, and members for their trust and pledged to prioritize youth employment and job creation.

Other Parties’ Participation:

  • PDP: Auwalu Isah Manzo was successfully screened as the party’s candidate, with the party expressing confidence in his ability to defeat APC and NNPP candidates. Manzo, a retired civil servant, vowed to bring change to the constituency.
