Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang has confirmed that 28 people were killed in a brutal attack in Angwan Rukuba, Jos North Local Government Area, on Sunday, March 29, 2026. The governor described the incident as “senseless” and “heinous,” vowing that those responsible would be held accountable and brought to justice.
Governor Mutfwang visited the attack scene and met with grieving families, assuring them of government support, including dignified burials and medical expenses for the injured. He also announced a 48-hour curfew in Jos North to enable security agencies to restore calm.
The attack, which occurred around 7:30 p.m., has heightened tensions in the community, with residents calling for increased security measures. The governor has directed security agencies to adopt proactive, intelligence-driven operations to tackle urban terrorism.
