Manchester United Antony’s Accuser Drops Charges Against Him

One of the three women who had accused Manchester United player Antony of acting violently apparently withdrew her complaint against the athlete.

Police in Sao Paulo and Manchester are looking into the 23-year-old Brazil international’s allegations that he assaulted his ex-girlfriend Gabriela Cavallin four times. As a result of Antony’s denial of any misconduct, he has not been detained or charged.

Ingrid Lana, a 33-year-old banker, stated in an interview with Brazil’s Record TV that Antony was hostile toward her in October 2022 and suggested that the footballer might have killed her as a result of his behaviour.

Law student Rayssa de Freitas claimed she needed hospital treatment following an incident in May of last year when she was allegedly attacked by Antony and Mallu Ohana, the ex-wife of Brazil player Dudu, in Antony’s Land Rover after the three of them left a Sao Paulo nightclub.

However, a third investigation concerning an incident in a car in May 2022 has reportedly been dropped at the request of the accused victim, according to The Telegraph.

The Telegraph claims that the report given to the Sao Paulo Civil Police has since been completely retracted. The two women in the car are believed to have each accused the other of sexual assault.

According to reports, De Freitas got out of the car when it came to a stop at a stop sign. After the incident, she allegedly needed hospital treatment.

While he reviews claims against him, the Brazil winger is now on paid leave from Manchester United until further notice.

A club statement released on September 10th read: “Manchester United acknowledges the allegations made against Antony. Players who have not participated in international matches are due back in training on Monday.

“However, it has been agreed with Antony that he will delay his return until further notice in order to address the allegations.”
