Manchester United has announced that a moment of silence will be observed before its Europa League game tonight with Real Sociedad in memory of Queen Elizabeth.

The English club stated this on their official website, a few minutes after the death of the Queen.

The announcement of the monarch’s passing came from Buckingham Palace on Thursday.

According to the palace, “The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon.

“The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow.”

Following this, Manchester United has stated that the Europa League game against Real Sociedad will commence as scheduled but the club will take a minute of silence for the Queen.

The club said, “a minute silence will be held before kick-off, “which will allow the teams, match officials and everyone in attendance paying their respect to Her Majesty, The Queen. Both teams will wear black armbands and the flags at Old Trafford will fly at half-mast as a sign of our utmost respect.”
