As previously stated, we can choose whether to give our children a smartphone or a basic phone. However, today’s teenagers, in particular, prefer smartphones. This preference may stem from peer pressure or the appealing features that make it advantageous, albeit with increased risks if proper monitoring is not implemented.

Children can easily open accounts, save, and monitor their finances via mobile banking. Also, there are apps that we can install that can help us monitor our children’s spending, and this helps them stay on track with their saving goals. This also gives them a sense of responsibility.

With smartphones, kids have the opportunity to interact with their friends, thereby developing basic communication skills, either through phone calls, chatting, or text messaging. Many have been able to still connect and maintain good relationships with their friends even after graduating from school or relocating. This has contributed to a decrease in social isolation.
