Nigeria Reaffirms Two-State Solution In Talks With Israeli Vice Minister

Nigeria has reaffirmed commitment to a two-state solution amid talks on Gaza crisis with Israeli officials.

Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Bianca Ojukwu-Odumegwu has said the worsening humanitarian situation in Gaza was a central focus of her meeting with Israeli Vice-Foreign Minister Sharren Haskel-Harpaz.

Both ministers met in Abuja on Monday during the Nigeria–Israel round of political consultations.

In a statement on Tuesday , Ojukwu-Odumegwu said the deliberations “focused on critical areas of mutual interest as well as global realities, most particularly the ongoing crisis surrounding the Israel–Hamas war.”

She reaffirmed that “Nigeria remains committed to a two-state solution,” describing it as “a discourse that has drawn renewed global attention amid the worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza.”

The minister added that “Nigeria’s security priorities were also discussed with a view to expanding partnerships in innovation.”

According to a joint communiqué, both parties “stressed the importance of enhancing cooperation in intelligence gathering and information sharing, particularly regarding terror financing, and the need for advanced security training.”

Ojukwu-Odumegwu further listed “agriculture, water management, ICT, renewable energy, education, ports and border management” as well as “concluding pending memoranda of understanding (MOUs) on education and audiovisual co-production” among the priority focus areas for collaboration.

Haskel-Harpaz, on her part, “reiterated Israel’s commitment to strengthening its bilateral relations and cooperation with Nigeria.”

Today's Quote

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
