Nigerian Actress Kiekie Shares How Prayer Sparked Her Career Revival

Nigerian actress, media personality, and fashion entrepreneur Oluwabukunmi Adeaga-Ilori, better known by her stage name as Kiekie, has given a very intimate account of how prayer and isolation changed the trajectory of her career.

Speaking on the Off The Top podcast, Kiekie described a particularly difficult time in 2018 when, despite her parents’ encouragement, her fashion endeavors appeared to stall at the age of 28.

She entirely cut off contact with friends during her retreat, even informing them that she had traveled to avoid being discovered.

Wearing nothing but a pink boubou, she relied solely on her bed and the the floor for company while she prayed for hours on end. Kiekie claimed that on the third or fourth day, she got an unexpected breakthrough when a woman called.

She said: “I locked myself up for days. No food, no bathing, no change of clothes. I was practically on the floor crying. I told God, I need you to turn my life around.

“I hadn’t even had a bath. I just brushed and ran to Ikeja. That was the beginning.

“From 2018 till now, it has been fantastic—fantastic,” she said, reflecting on the journey with gratitude.
