Nigerian Graduate Burns His College, NYSC And Other Certificates

A young Nigerian man was caught on camera burning all his educational certificates due to frustration over unemployment in this country.

The graduate said there was no reason to have a certificate because he had difficulty finding a job with people without educational qualifications.

He showed off his laminated university documents, primary and secondary school certificates as well as National Youth Service, NYSC discharge certificate.

He said that since he graduated 13 years ago, he has been struggling to get a job in Nigeria, and if illiterates are getting better opportunities than him in the country, then the certificates are useless.

The young man could be seen using a lighter to set fire to the documents and advised people to enrol their wards into skill acquisition programmes instead of sending them to school.

He expressed hope that his action will give him closure because he has been unable to sleep for days. According to him, since 2010 when he graduated, he has not used his certificate to get a job.

See some reactions below;

Today's Quote

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
