Nkem Owoh Unveils The Unexpected Power Behind His Success

Nkem Owoh, also known as Osuofia, is a well-known comic actor from Nollywood who has referred to his foray into acting as “an accident.”

The veteran clarified that his coworkers, who saw his comedic abilities behind the scenes, pushed him into acting even though he intended to stay a scriptwriter.

Owoh stated, “My coming in front of the camera was an accident,” in a recent episode of the Selah Meditate podcast. People began encouraging me to perform in front of the camera while I was working behind the scenes as a scriptwriter.

“I remember ATV created a 7-minute programme for me to do stand-up comedy in the 80s. They told me to come in front of the camera because I was making people laugh behind the camera. With much pressure, I came in front of the camera. And I saw that what I was doing people were buying it so that was how my acting career began.”

“Fame took away my freedom. A lot of people want to be celebrities, they only know the benefits but not the downsides. When you become famous you can’t do a lot of the things you were doing freely before. You become restricted in a lot of ways,” he explained.

Sometimes in life, we find ourselves in situations or places where we feel out of place or uncertain about our future. At first, it may seem that these circumstances are not ideal or even unfavorable.

However, with time, perseverance, and resilience, we often discover that these very experiences become the foundation for our growth and success. What initially appears to be a disadvantage can, in the end, turn out to be the stepping stone to greatness. Sometimes, the journey may be challenging, but ultimately, it is in those moments that we thrive, prove ourselves, and achieve remarkable things.
