By authorizing a thirteenth-month salary for state civil servants, Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to workers’ welfare.
At the 2026 Public Service Week Dinner and Awards Night in Asaba, the governor made the announcement and approved a threefold increase in the monetary awards for exceptional public servants.
According to Oborevwori, the choices were made as part of his administration’s initiatives to honor excellence in state public service, encourage hard work, and raise morale.
He assured civil servants that his administration would continue to put their welfare first and foster an environment that would facilitate better service delivery while praising their commitment and contributions to governance.
The governor urged employees to continue being dedicated, productive, and supportive of government initiatives meant to further Delta State’s development.
He noted that the event’s theme, “Reforms, Resilience and Results,” is in line with his administration’s MORE Agenda and described it as a chance to honor excellence, assess the state of public service, and encourage increased productivity.
He contends that significant reforms can only be effective if employees are appropriately empowered, motivated, and supported by laws that advance their well-being and career advancement.
Governor Oborevwori praised the Delta State Public Service for its professionalism and commitment, stating that it had been crucial to the execution of government initiatives in several important areas.
He reiterated his support for workers, saying that memos pertaining to welfare are always promptly addressed.
“When I see any memo concerning the welfare of civil servants. I always approve it because I know the importance of having over 60,000 workers standing with this administration.”
We congratulate the people of Delta State on this significant achievement, celebrating the positive step towards improved welfare and economic well-being for all workers in the state.
Live with Purpose, Love with Passion. Remember to be happy
