The Turkish powerhouse Besiktas has announced Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as their new manager.
Following his dismissal from Manchester United in 2021, the Norwegian manager has been out of the game for four years.
However, Super Lig team Besiktas has now disclosed a surprise new position for Solskjaer, the former manager of Molde and Cardiff.
Besiktas posted the simple message “Ole, Ole, Ole” on X, along with a picture of the new manager wearing a club scarf.
In his first interview after his unveiling, Solskjaer said: “It’s great to be here.
“It’s very nice to see so many people who care about this fantastic football club.
“I’ve had a very nice first meeting with the members of the board.
“I’m really looking forward to this – it’s fantastic to be in this beautiful city.”
Solskjaer takes over in Istanbul for Holland veteran and former Arsenal star Giovanni van Bronckhorst, who was fired last month.
During his nearly three-year tenure, Solskjaer guided United to second place in the Premier League and a Europa League final.
He is planning to witness Besiktas’ next game, against Samsunspor, from the stands in Istanbul this weekend.
A Gentle Reminder: Every obstacle is a stepping stone, every morning; a chance to go again, and those little steps take you closer to your dream.
