The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has been honored with a new position.
The Ecumenical Synod of Bishops, Archbishops, and Senior Clergy Inc. (ESBAASC) has named him its Patron.
According to Church Times, the statement was made during the group’s international conference, which was held in Emmanuel Park, RCCG Redemption Camp, from August 22 to August 25.
The conference’s main focus was on discussing the difficulties and solutions associated with religious tolerance, with the theme being “Religious Tolerance in Nigeria and Across the Nations of the World.”
ESBAASC, a coalition of Christian leaders, is dedicated to fostering unity and dialogue among various Christian denominations, and promoting religious cooperation and understanding.
The event featured the nomination of Pastor Adeboye as Patron by Archbishop Prof. Kehinde Olubunmi, the International Prelate and Chief Host.
Archbishop Prof. Mary Ajisafe, Overseer of Peace of God Ministry in Lagos, was also appointed as Matron of ESBAASC. Both nominations were met with a standing ovation from attendees.
Archbishop Olubunmi highlighted the group’s collaborative efforts with global organizations to enhance religious tolerance in Nigeria and extend this ethos throughout Africa.
Pastor Adeboye, represented by RCCG National Overseer Emeritus, Pastor Joseph Obayemi, took a reflective approach, recalling his youth and experiences of peaceful coexistence with people of various faiths.
He shared how his early interactions with Muslims and other religious groups exemplified harmonious living.
Pastor Adeboye defined religious tolerance as the cultivation of mutual understanding and unity among diverse cultures.
Additionally, he emphasized that a large portion of Nigeria’s religious and sectarian violence is driven by politics and is frequently taken advantage of during times of economic and social upheaval.
A very big congratulations to you sir. May the anointing oil on your head never run dry in Jesus name.
Live with Purpose, Love with Passion. Remember to be happy
