Paul Pogba, Juventus’ midfielder, is in negotiations with the Serie A club about terminating his contract.
The midfielder’s current deal expires in June 2026, but the 31-year-old is poised to negotiate an agreement with Juventus to shorten it, according to the Daily Mail.
Paul Pogba was suspended for failing a drug test after appearing for Juventus in their opening game of the 2023-24 season against Udinese on August 20.
He tested positive for DHEA, a prohibited drug that increases endogenous testosterone levels. However, Pogba’s management team appealed the ruling to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
The French international’s appeal resulted in a favorable decision on Friday, as the CAS upheld the four-year suspension that was imposed in February.
The embargo, which went into effect on September 11, 2023, has been shortened to 18 months, with a deadline of March 20, 2025.
His initial fine of five thousand euros has been refunded. Pogba is also permitted to resume training in January 2025 by virtue of the verdict.
The Juventus team hasn’t decided what to do with the former Manchester United midfielder, according to head coach Thiago Motta.
“The club will decide what to do about Pogba. Pogba was a great player. He hasn’t played for a long time. I’m focused on tomorrow’s game, the rest doesn’t matter,” said Motta to reporters in a press conference.
On Monday, the CAS will officially announce its decision on Pogba’s appeal.
