Peter Obi Denounces Child Labor On Children’s Day

Published on

According to Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 election, every child should have access to a high-quality education.

On Monday, which is Children’s Day, he made the statement.

On this special day, Obi denounced the ongoing practice of child labor in Nigeria.

To commemorate 2024 Children’s Day, Obi wrote a post on his X handle stating that greater work ought to go into rescuing more Nigerians from poverty and guaranteeing every Nigerian child’s rights.

He said, “Every Nigerian child deserves access to quality education, healthcare and a safe and secure environment to live and thrive.

“We must therefore invest in these key areas of development for their sake and the future of our society.”

Quoting a report by the National Bureau of Statistics, Obi said 39.2 per cent of Nigerian children are in child labour while 22.9 per cent are involved in hazardous work.

To every child, may your dreams be as big as your imagination and may you have the courage to chase them.

May the innocence in their smiles and the purity of their hearts stay forever unfaded. Wishing a joyful Children’s Day to every kid in the world!
