A small plane crashed into a residential area in San Diego County, damaging some homes, officials said.

The accident happened on Monday, two to three blocks from Santana High School. At least two homes were damaged, the county sheriff’s office revealed.

At least two people have been taken to the hospital in San Diego.

The sheriff’s office said Jeremy Street between Second Street and Mast Blvd and North Magnolia Avenue between 2nd Street and Mast Blvd was closed amid the investigation.

No further information was available on the extent of possible deaths or injuries.

Santana High School tweeted that all students “secure premises It later said that the sheriff’s office had given the OK to dismiss the students.

The Senti Fire Department and other first responders were present at the accident site.

The National Transportation Safety Board has been notified and will take over the Sheriff’s Office investigation said.

Images shared on social media showed a house engulfed in flames and clouds of black smoke.
