“Police Have Failed, We May Need To Carry Guns” – Gov Rotimi Akeredolu

Rotimi Akeredolu, Chairman of the Southern Governors’ Forum, has once again spoken out about the country’s overwhelming insecurity.

The Ondo state governor, speaking at the start of the ongoing Attorneys-General of the 36 States Conference, said the police are frustrated.

Akeredolu, who said the police’s failure to mobilize to the location of the latest Owo attack was due to a lack of vehicles, asked the police to “close shop” if the Federal Government could not satisfy their equipment demands.

The Governor also challenged states to rebuild the country by establishing their own anti-graft agency, among other things.

He also said that Nigerians may be forced to possess arms in the near future, citing mass killings, kidnappings, and other significant security failures around the country as evidence that a central police command is ineffectual in keeping Nigerians safe.

Akeredolu said, “The Police have failed. We will carry arms very soon. Oga Malami. There is no other way.”
