Police Kills Corps Member, Injures LAUTECH Graduate

Iyanda Damilola, a corps member, was allegedly shot and killed on Tuesday, April 23, in Ogbomoso Local Government Area by an Oyo State Police Command Special Anti-Robbery Squad operator known as Saheed SARS.

According to Punch, Saheed is popular among Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso students for his assaults, particularly those involving “Yahoo boys.”

Iyanda Oluwafemi, the deceased’s brother, who graduated from LAUTECH on Monday, informed the publication that Saheed’s gunshots caused his injuries.

The Accounting and Management Sciences graduate described how he and his brother ran into the trigger-happy policeman while travelling to an after-party.

He said; “Yesterday was our convocation, and we were at a lounge (name withheld) for a convocation party around 2am when we heard that some people were fighting outside. When we discovered that the place was getting rowdy, we stepped out only to see policemen dispersing the crowd and shooting directly at the people.

“I sustained bullet wounds, but my brother, who came for my convocation, was shot in the head. He was confirmed dead at the LAUTECH Teaching Hospital and was taken to the mortuary this morning.

“As I speak with you, I am at the clinic for my treatment. The wounds are deep, and I can not but seek justice for my innocent brother.”

Oluwafemi responded that he was positive it was Saheed SARS who had led the police to the location in order to disperse the gathering when asked if he could identify the officers that had arrived for the operation.

He added: “I saw him handling the gun; he was shooting with one hand until he shot my brother.”

A Gentle Reminder: Every obstacle is a stepping stone, every morning; a chance to go again, and those little steps take you closer to your dream.
