Police To Visit 1000 Houses Over Illegal Streaming Of Football

Police will reportedly be visiting 1,000 homes in the upcoming week To warn supporters that they risk prosecution if they continue to watch Premier League games on unauthorized streams.

The law enforcement is collaborating with anti-piracy investigators from Federation Copyright Theft (FACT) in “Operation Raider,” to find people who have been illegally watching games in England and throughout Europe on modified boxes or fire sticks, according to The Mirror.

They are taking matters into their own hands and are going door-to-door to inform people of the possible repercussions.

The targeted people might receive notices from the authorities ordering them to stop using the streams right away.

These streams are also been used to watch other sports and movies, which the police are cracking down on.

They believe that money made from online advertising may be linked to organized crime gangs and illegal streaming websites.

Gary Robinson, a detective chief inspector with the Police Intellectual Property Crime Unit, said: “Accessing films, TV series and live sports events from unauthorised sources is illegal, can expose consumers to risks such as data theft and malware, and can help fund organised criminal groups.”

Detective Inspector Matt McNellis, of West Mercia’s Cyber Crime Specialist Operation, added, “We are able to deploy cutting-edge digital tactics to identify and detect people who break the law before carrying out enforcement activity in concert with our partners.”

“Often, illegal streaming is used to fund Serious Organised Crime and West Mercia Cybercrime Unit is committed to interdicting this source of criminal revenue and reducing the harm organised crime groups can do to our communities.”

I was relieved when I saw that this was for only England.

Like, if this was to be Nigeria, I am surely receiving a special visit. The home that would be visited would be around 10,000 😂
