“Achievement is not a destination, but a journey that must be celebrated at every milestone.”
Brian Tracy
The world-renowned Canadian-American author, business strategist, and motivational speaker who taught millions that success is built one deliberate step at a time.
ITIRE-IKATE: True to the words of Brian Tracy, the Council Secretariat of Itire–Ikate Local Council Development Area turned into a festival of gratitude on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, as thousands gathered to celebrate a milestone in leadership.
From dawn, the grounds were filled with drumming, praise songs, and cheering crowds — residents, traditional rulers, market women, youth groups, and political stakeholders — all assembled to mark 365 Days of Keeping Promises, Delivering Results, and Building a Stronger Tomorrow under the Honorable Oluwafemi Daniel Odunayo.
The atmosphere was one Tracy himself would have called “progress in motion.” Banners bearing images of newly constructed roads, school children with bags and books, and health outreach teams lined the venue. It was not just a celebration, but a report card made visible.
The Highlights: Work Recognized, Tools Delivered
The most resounding moment came when seven brand-new SUVs were presented to the Vice Chairman, Hon. Yetunde Jimba, the Leader of the Legislative Arm, Councillor Olaoluwa Andrew Agbeyangi*, and members of the Legislative Council. The crowd erupted as each key was handed over.
Speaking on the gesture, Hon. Odunayo said:
“These are not luxury gifts. They are tools of service — to take our legislators closer to the wards, to the streets, and to the people whose voices must be heard.”
In the spirit of “people first” governance that Tracy advocates — setting clear goals and serving others — the administration also presented ₦100,000 cash palliatives to vulnerable residents, distributed new uniforms to the 45-member Environmental Task Force, and handed out GCE forms to indigent students.
A special recognition of International Youth Day* drew a standing ovation as the Chairman saluted “the ever-productive youth constituency” for driving innovation and energy in the LCDA.
*Voices From the Ground*
The people did not hold back. Their testimonials painted the picture of a year where promises met performance.
Mama Risikat Adebayo, trader from Onadeko Street, said with tears of joy:
_”For years we begged for that road. Today my shop is accessible. Hon. Odunayo has wiped our tears. May God continue to lift him.”_
Comrade Tunde Salami, a youth leader, declared:
_”This is leadership with a human face. The digital trainings, the GCE support, the way he carries youths along — we have never seen it like this. We are proud of you, sir!”_
Chief Adegoke Williams, a community elder, noted:
_”When a leader comes out at 6:30am for monthly sanitation himself, you know he means business. Our drains are cleared, our streets are cleaner. Itire-Ikate is moving forward.”_
Receiving the SUV on behalf of the legislature, Councillor Olaoluwa Andrew Agbeyangi added:
_”This support will deepen our oversight. Mr. Chairman has shown that when executive and legislature work as one, the people win.”_
One Year, Many Landmarks
As Brian Tracy teaches — that achievement is measured in consistent actions — the administration listed one year of tangible results: construction and rehabilitation of Olojudo, Onadeko, Tossou, Ashabi Shoniyi, and Obajimi Streets; distribution of over 7,000 school bags and 25,000 exercise books; sponsorship of 3,000 students for GCE and 1,000 for JAMB; free medical outreaches and Ilera Eko registration; and aggressive drainage clearing and environmental sanitation.
As the event closed with cultural dances and prayers; the message was clear: this was not the finish line.
In his closing remarks, Hon. Odunayo echoed the Tracy philosophy of continuous growth:
_”One year is our foundation. In year two, we commit to more roads, more jobs, more care, and more opportunities. The journey continues. The best is yet to come.”_
