Jose Mourinho, the manager of AS Roma, has emerged as a surprise candidate to succeed Mauricio Pochettino as manager of Paris Saint-Germain next season.
As part of a significant backroom shake-up, PSG are “seriously considering” replacing Pochettino.
The Ligue 1 champions, according to talkSPORT, have identified Mourinho as a top possibility to take over as their next manager.
Changes in the squad and staff are anticipated as part of a substantial revamp behind the scenes in conjunction with Kylian Mbappe’s eye-catching new deal.
Mbappe had snubbed Real Madrid to sign a three-year contract with PSG, making him the highest-paid player in sports history. The 23-year-old was given enormous incentives as part of his deal with PSG, including the chance to vote on all football decisions made by the club.
After backing new replacement Luis Campos, he is said to have been the major factor behind Leonardo’s dismissal as sporting director.
Mbappe is also thought to have influenced Nasser Al Khelaifi’s decision to fire Pochettino following another woeful Champions League season.
