Qing Madi Says Former Label Removed Her Song From Spotify

Qing Madi claims her former label removed her song from Spotify, alleging it followed a past $1 million lawsuit.Nigerian singer Qing Madi says her former record label, JTon Music, removed her song from Spotify, bringing renewed attention to her claims against the company.

The 19 year old artiste made the statement on Tuesday via Instagram, where she said the track was taken down despite performing well. She also claimed the label had previously sued her for $1 million and lost the case, linking the situation to their past legal issues.

Madi said the song, “Pepper Me,” featuring Zinoleesky and KFMD, was removed because of its strong performance on the platform. She referenced the experience of Cynthia Morgan, suggesting a similar pattern.

“Lol my ex label the same people that tried to destroy Cynthia Morgan Are trying to do same to me,” she wrote.

“It’s paining you that I didn’t give up even after suing me for 1 million dollars and loosing your case.

“I don’t come on the internet to complain ever nobody knew this one before All I do is keep pushing my music.

“Now this babe took down kfmd record from Spotify Because of how well it was doing.”

She added that she plans to resolve the issue and restore the song.

“I’ll resolve it don’t worry The song will be up again.”

Madi also addressed her decision to speak publicly, saying her silence should not be misinterpreted.

“Just because I choose to keep quiet don’t mean I Care about protecting your image I just want to do music That’s all But u want to play dirty.

“I’m 19 years old bro Let me be!!!!!”

She also directly appealed to the label in another post.

“Leave me alone !!!

“Cynthia Morgan cried and was silenced It won’t happen with me.”

The singer’s comments have drawn attention online, with fans reacting to the allegations and raising concerns about artist-label disputes in the Nigerian music industry.

Madi first gained widespread recognition in 2022 with her breakout single “See Finish,” which went viral on TikTok and positioned her as a rising Gen Z voice. Her momentum continued in 2023 with “Ole,” a collaboration with BNXN, which charted across African music platforms.

She has since received industry recognition, including being named a Spotify Africa Equal Ambassador in 2023 and a member of Apple Music’s Rising Class of 2024. In January 2025, she released her debut album I Am the Blueprint, further cementing her place in the Afro-R&B scene.

As of the time of reporting, JTon Music has not responded publicly to the claims.
