The incident occurred in 1986 while Aliyu was serving at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos.

- The Traveler: A man from Kaduna State, who claimed to be a farmer, was stopped and searched by Aliyu and his team. The man’s bag was filled with wads of naira notes, sparking suspicion among some of Aliyu’s colleagues.
- The Plot: Aliyu revealed that some of his colleagues attempted to convince him to kill the traveler and take the money. However, Aliyu refused to condone such actions, stating, “I let them know that such would not happen in my presence.”
