Sarz Breaks Silence: 36 Years In Nigeria Without 24/7 Power

Osabuohien Osaretin, often known as Sarz, is a well-known producer and music executive who has talked extensively about how Nigeria’s creative sector is negatively impacted by inadequate infrastructure, especially the nation’s erratic energy supply.

In a recent appearance on the Afropolitan podcast, Sarz clarified that potential could be wasted if electricity isn’t available when creatives are motivated. The 36-year-old emphasized that even though he was born and raised in Nigeria, he has never spent a full day there with power.

“I was born and raised in this country and I have never experienced electricity for 24 hours. There are times when I wake up feeling inspired and I want to create music but there is not light.

“Sometimes, even when you want to buy fuel, they will tell that there is a strike or scarcity. And then you end up doing not nothing and the potential just waste,” he said.

“As a creative person, you need to be mentally charged to perform at your best. So, when the infrastructure is lacking the moment you are mentally charged, it is a challenge,” Sarz added.
