Secondary School Student Commits Suicide After Receiving Exam Results

Adegoke Adeyemi, a 17-year-old student of Offa Grammar School in Kwara State’s Offa Local Government Area, reportedly killed himself after failing his SS1 to SS2 promotion exam.

According to the state police command’s public relations officer, Okasanmi Ajayi, who confirmed the incident in a release in Ilorin on Wednesday night, Adegoke, who was discovered hanging from a tree, was asked to repeat the class.

He claimed that at approximately 15.34 hours on Tuesday, a group of police officers from the Divisional Police Headquarters, Offa, pulled the deceased student’s body from a tree behind the Ariya Garden Hotel in Offa.

The body was transferred to the hospital for an autopsy, and a probe into the incident has been launched.

According to Okasanmi, “The corpse was removed and taken to General hospital Offa for autopsy, while investigation into the matter is ongoing.”
