Six Suspected Kidnappers Gun Down In Rivers State

Six suspected kidnappers were slain by Rivers State Police Command agents during a raid on their hideout in the Obelle town of the state’s Emohua local government area.

On Friday, July 7, 2023, Nwonyi Emeka, the commissioner of police, announced this to the media in Port Harcourt. He added that agents had also detained six alleged kidnappers and cultists who had been terrorizing the Emohua local government axis on the East-West Road.

According to the CP, when members of the Anti-cultism and Tactical Units invaded the hideout of a gang led by one Uchechukwu Daniel, the criminals opened fire when they saw the police.

He added that when the police arrived, there was an exchange of gunfire that resulted in six of the criminals being killed, six being taken into custody, and other criminals fleeing with gunshot wounds in various locations.

According to the Police Commissioner, on June 30, 2023, police officers on patrol near King Perekule Junction in Port Harcourt came across and freed a kidnap victim who described how one of their buddies had been abducted and taken away.

According to the police chief, police officers tracked the kidnappers to their hiding place on July 6, 2023, based on reliable information. The victims were freed unharmed at the Ozuoha hamlet in the state’s IKwerre local government region, and one Mr. Buchi David was detained.

He listed the collected exhibits, which included a locally made arm, some cut-to-size firearms, and six ammunition.

According to the Police Commissioner, on Friday, June 30, 2023, a cult-related activity was occurring on Hospital Road, Bonny, however the cultists fled when they saw the police, and instead, one gun, a bag, and a cellphone were found.

According to CP Emeka, on June 20, 2023, a local vigilante group and the Special Area Division at the Rumudomaya village in the Obio-Akpor local government area busted a criminal hideaway in the neighborhood.

He claimed that suspects, both males and women, ranging in age from 15 to 28, had been detained and that various hard narcotics had been found on them.

He added that when the united team of police officers and vigilantes attacked the hideout at Slaughter, behind Rumuokoro Market, also in the Obio-Akpor local government area, they found three Police Mobile Force (PMF) uniforms, an Army cap, a locally made pistol, and live cartridges.

The CP further disclosed that on July 5, 2023, while on patrol in the Yokuru community in the Khana local government area, members of the Anti-cultism unit, Bori annex, detained a man named Baridara Baridam, also known as “Ojukwu,” who was on the police’s wanted list.

According to him, the suspect is a part of a three-man gang that terrorizes the Ogoni axis of the East-West road, which includes Mali and Lekia.

Emeka listed two AK-47 rifles among the evidence seized from the suspect.
