Suspected Burglar Arrested In Ogun

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested David Adediji, a suspected burglar, for breaking into a residence and stealing goods worth more than N200,000 in the Okorowepo, Idiroko region of the state.

The defendant, 27, allegedly broke into the residence of a female resident through a window, destroying the iron security bars, and beat her on the head with an iron rod.

Omolola Odutola, the Command’s spokesperson, confirmed the event, saying the culprit is renowned for breaking into homes and stealing from locals with iron tools. Odutola stated that Adediji stole a Techno Spark phone worth over N150,000, as well as N52,000 in cash, and hurt the victim on the back and leg while attempting to flee.

According to the police spokesperson, the victim reported the event about 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, causing the Divisional Police Officer of the Idiroko Division to visit the area and initiate an investigation, which resulted in the suspect’s arrest.

According to Odutola, during interrogation, Adediji admitted to the crime. She stated that on January 1, 2025, at around 7:00 p.m., a burglary victim reported that on December 31, 2024, at approximately 10:00 p.m., Adediji forcibly entered her home, destroying the iron bars on her window and beating her on the head with an iron rod.

The lady further claimed that after inspecting the room, Adediji grabbed her Android phone and N52,000 in cash from her luggage. Detectives from the Idiroko Division arrived at the scene and promptly began an investigation. The iron rod and board used in the attack were recovered as evidence.

Adediji has subsequently been arrested and confesses to his role in the burglary. Odutola said that a preliminary investigation is underway while police gather more information, and the suspect is expected to face charges once the inquiry is completed.
