Suspended Senator Natasha Insists On Returning To The Senate On Tuesday

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central senatorial district and currently under suspension, announced that she will return to her duties in the red chamber on Tuesday, July 22, 2025.

While addressing journalists at a training program in her hometown of Ihima, Kogi State, on July 19, Senator Natasha shared this update. She explained that she is adhering to a court order and has formally sent another letter to notify the Senate of her planned resumption.

Previously, Akpoti-Uduaghan had informed the Senate of her intent to resume through a letter dated July 11, directed to the Clerk of the National Assembly.

This letter, penned by her legal representative, Michael Numa, pressed the red chamber to promptly enable her return in accordance with the court’s ruling, presided over by Binta Nyako.

In the letter, the senator cited the court’s decision that her six-month suspension was deemed excessive, unconstitutional, and an infringement on her constituents’ right to representation.

However, her attempt to resume last week was hindered due to the unavailability of the certified true copy of the court’s ruling.

Last week, Senate President Godswill Akpabio filed an appeal at the Court of Appeal to contest the Federal High Court’s ruling in Abuja, which mandated the reinstatement of Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan to the Senate.

In a notice of appeal dated July 14, 2025, and submitted to the Abuja Division of the appellate court, Akpabio seeks to reverse the July 4 judgment issued by Justice Binta Nyako.

A Gentle Reminder: Every obstacle is a stepping stone, every morning; a chance to go again, and those little steps take you closer to your dream.
