Consider the powerful figure of Saint John the Baptist, who passionately proclaimed the arrival of the Messiah while fearlessly confronting Herod Antipas about his scandalous marriage to his brother’s wife. This fiery exchange serves as a wake-up call for Herod to reflect on how he relates to others. When pressured by his wife for the “head of John the Baptist,” Herod, wielding his power as king, succumbed to her demand. This moment reveals that even the mightiest can feel the tug of external influences, potentially torn between the expectations of others and the call to moral integrity.
