PRESENTING YOURSELF BEFORE THE LORD

Suddenly, Saul’s expression shifted dramatically as he looked at David. The victory over Goliath and the Philistines was not merely due to human strength but unleashed by God’s power. Sadly, Saul never sought the presence of God instead he would become consumed, tirelessly chasing after David for the rest of his days. Yes! On a wild goose chase. How drastically the mighty have fallen!

In today’s gospel, Jesus and his disciples are followed by a crowd eager to hear his teachings and to seek healing. Imagine Jesus’ heart as he sees the people flocking to him. Far from vainglory, his heart longs for them to continue seeking him, but with purer hearts.

How many times have I ignored or actively rejected Your guidance, Lord, despite Your efforts to protect me?

As the New Year begins and routines resume, I am reminded that during moments of imbalance—when circumstances feel overwhelming, when progress stalls, or when I feel stuck—this is when I must listen more attentively to Your voice, Lord. Today, in this moment, I seek to hear Your guidance.
