Tinubu Not Controlled By Anyone – Minister of Information

Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has affirmed that President Bola Tinubu operates free from the sway of any cabal or secretive inner group, emphasizing that the president autonomously makes well-informed decisions grounded in the nation’s best interests.

Addressing the audience in Abuja on Thursday, May 22, at the All Progressives Congress (APC) national summit titled “Renewed Hope Agenda: The Journey So Far,” Idris explained that President Tinubu adopts an inclusive approach to diverse perspectives but retains ultimate authority in his decision-making process.

“You need to study the president very well. You can have your voice; you can say what you want to say; he will listen to you, but his decision is ultimately his own. I think it’s important for us to recognise that,” the minister said.

Idris noted that Tinubu took office during a pivotal moment when Nigeria faced critical challenges and acted boldly by eliminating petrol and foreign exchange subsidies. He stated that these subsidies had long depleted the nation’s resources and hindered economic progress.

He also highlighted the government’s “Nigeria First” policy, which requires federal ministries, departments, and agencies to prioritize locally produced goods, services, and expertise in public procurement. He explained that the policy seeks to boost industrialization, promote domestic production, and protect the economy from global economic volatility.

Earlier during the summit, the Progressive Governors Forum officially endorsed Tinubu as the APC’s sole presidential candidate for the 2027 elections. The declaration was made by Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, who leads the forum.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio also spoke at the summit, proclaiming that Tinubu should not only be the APC’s candidate but the consensus choice for the entire nation in the upcoming election.

A Gentle Reminder: Every obstacle is a stepping stone, every morning; a chance to go again, and those little steps take you closer to your dream.
