Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the First Lady of Nigeria, said she was impressed by the cordial welcome she received in Anambra State and characterized Ndigbo as “very nice” and reliable people.
After receiving the chieftaincy title of Ugoeze Anambra (Royal Eagle) from the state council of traditional rulers, Mrs. Tinubu spoke at a civic reception in her honor at Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka, the capital of Anambra State.
Igwe Chidubem Iweka III of Obosi Kingdom, the council chairman, led the traditional rulers.
The First Lady expressed her admiration for the reception and revealed that she would visit the state to express her gratitude.
Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration was deemed “very superb” by Mrs. Tinubu, who had previously commissioned a Technological Center at the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, in Orumba South Local Government Area.
She claimed that Soludo had accomplished so much in the state that people across the country were talking about his leadership.
She also praised Nonye Soludo, the governor’s wife, for empowering the state’s 5,000 impoverished citizens.
Mrs. Tinubu declared that she would supplement the empowerment program by giving each beneficiary N100,000.
She claims that she traveled to Anambra and other Southeast states as a Nigerian, not for political campaigning.
She said;
“I didn’t come here for campaign but as a Nigerian. I will come back in due course because Ndigbo are very nice people and trustworthy.”
“I am not in the state for political campaign but as a united country, men and women, the citizens must be their brothers’ keepers wherever they are.”
We are delighted to hear that she enjoyed her visit and felt warmly received. It brings us great joy to know she was treated with kindness and respect throughout her stay. All hail Ndigbo!
