Train Crushes Tricycle Rider And Passenger To D3ath In Plateau

A train fatally struck a tricycle operator and a passenger at Phototek Junction in the Abattoir area, Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State.

It was learned that the victims were k!lled by a passenger train en route from Bukuru to Jos on Wednesday, November 5, 2025.

Several eyewitnesses who spoke with Punch described the accident scene as “harrowing.”

“The train was blaring its horn, but despite the loud blaring and repeated honking, the tricycle rider attempted to speed across the railway track,” one Mary Phillip said.

“Tragically, the tricycle was struck, which claimed the lives of the driver and a passenger. It’s rather unfortunate.”

Another eyewitness, Mohammed Ibrahim, supported Phillip’s account, stating, “The incident occurred at 11 am on Wednesday when the train coming from Bukuru and heading to Jos suddenly crushed the tricycle, instantly k!lling two persons at the scene, while two women who were passengers were also injured.”

The spokesperson for the Jos Railway Station, Adam Abdullahi, confirmed the incident, blaming the tricycle rider’s failure to heed warnings.

“What happened was that at the level crossing, our official stopped him, but he refused to stop. The train’s speed eventually caught the tricycle, causing the accident,” he stated.
