Following a gunfight with terrorists along the Wasagu-Ayu Road in the Danko/Wasagu local government area of Kebbi State, troops from Operation FANSAN YAMMA have once again captured six people.
According to a statement from Lit Col. Aliyu Danja, the spokeman for the Joint Task Force Northwest Operation, the rescue operation took place on September 2, 2026, in response to a reliable intelligence report about a suspected terrorist group attacking Mahinua Village along the Wasagu-Ayu Road.
It added that the terrorists eventually left the area and abandoned the six kidnaped victims following a gunfight between the troops and the terrorists.
However, the troops were able to retrieve a car from the terrorists. While the recovered vehicle was held by the troops, the six victims were turned over to local community leaders so they could be reunited with their families.
The troops truly demonstrated remarkable bravery and dedication in their efforts. Their swift response and unwavering commitment in challenging circumstances highlight their professionalism and resilience. We acknowledge that such operations are never easy, but their success reflects their unwavering resolve to protect and serve. Excellent job to our heroes on the ground!
