Trump Celebrates Return To Power Ahead Of Inauguration

President-elect; Donald Trump, who lost the White House to Joe Biden four years ago, is celebrating a victory lap on Sunday by holding a campaign-style rally in Washington, DC, the day before he is sworn in for a second term.

Trump’s “Make America Great Again Victory Rally” will be his first significant address in Washington since he called on his followers to march on the Capitol on January 6, 2021, in protest of his loss.

An unsuccessful attempt was made by thousands of people to break into the premises and stop Congress from approving the results. Over 1,500 people have been charged in connection with the case, and Trump has promised to pardon many of them.

His inaugural speech on Monday and his rally remarks may provide a sneak peek at the tone he intends to set early in his second administration. Trump’s outspoken thoughts of annexing Greenland and the Panama Canal and transforming Canada into a US state have unsettled his international allies in recent weeks.

The event will feature speeches from conservative activist JD Vance, vice president-elect JD Vance, Ultimate Fighting Championship CEO Dana White, conservative activist Charlie Kirk, conservative commentator Megyn Kelly, and the richest man in the world, Elon Musk, who has become a close ally of Trump after spending over $250 million to support his campaign.

In addition, TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew intends to attend the event, although it is unclear if Trump would act to lift the app’s ban in the US, which is slated to go into effect on Sunday. On Monday, Chew is anticipated to attend Trump’s inauguration among other tech CEOs.

The Village People, Kid Rock, Lee Greenwood, and Billy Ray Cyrus are among the artists scheduled to perform at the protest.

Meanwhile, in honour of Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday, President Joe Biden will travel to Charleston, South Carolina, on Sunday, his final official trip as president, according to the White House. He will talk about King’s legacy and attend services at Royal Missionary Baptist Church.

The frigid weather forced organizers to move the inauguration indoors, and Trump will take the presidential oath of office inside the Capitol building’s rotunda on Monday at noon ET (1600 GMT). There will be over 25,000 law enforcement officers available to offer security.
