The United States government has imposed visa restrictions on some Nigerians who undermined the democratic process during the 2023 general elections.

The United States Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, disclosed this on Monday.

In a tweet, he wrote: “We have imposed visa restrictions on specific individuals who undermined the democratic process during Nigeria’s 2023 elections.”

He reiterated America’s commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s democracy and the rule of law.

The United States warned last year that it would impose visa restrictions on any individuals who undermined the democratic process in the Nigerian general elections.

The American government has placed similar visa bans on Nigerian politicians in the past.
